Biography

Anthony T. Yachnis, M.D., M.S.,has been a faculty member at the University of Florida College of Medicine for over two decades. He is certified in anatomic pathology and neuropathology by the American Board of Pathology and has authored more than 200 publications, including journal articles, book chapters and two books. He has given numerous invited national and local presentations; and has won national and local awards for research and teaching, including the Horatio T. Enterline Award in surgical pathology and the Moore and Rubinstein Awards for the American Association of Neuropathologists (AANP).  Dr. Yachnis was President of the AANP from 2013-2014 and served on the education committees of both the AANP and the US & Canadian Academy of Pathology.  He was senior associate editor for Laboratory Investigation, from 2003 - 08 and is still active on its Editorial Board. He also served on the on the Editorial Boards of several other pathology journals. He is the program director for an ACGME-approved neuropathology fellowship and provides a range of post-graduate neuropathology education for pathology, neurology, and neurosurgery trainees. He currently serves on the American Board of Pathology Test Development and Advisory Committee for Neuropathology. Prior to his tenure at the UF College of Medicine, Dr. Yachnis completed pathology residency and a surgical pathology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania from 1986 to 1991. He then received specialized training in pediatric neuropathology at Philadelphia Children's Hospital in 1993.
