Burning Mouth Syndrome is a common disease affecting mostly post-menopausal women.
It most often presents as a severe burning sensation involving the tongue and sometimes also the lips and roof of the mouth. It is often associated with taste disorders and a loss of taste sensation.
A variety of treatments are available including taste distractants, alpha lipoic acid, clonazepam etc.
