About me
My name is David Tamayo, and I'm a physical therapy assistant at UF Health. My educational journey includes earning my associates of science degree from Santa Fe College and later my masters of science from the University of Florida, specializing in orthopaedics, running medicine and vestibular therapy.
Despite having a career in a different field prior to my current career, I felt a strong calling to pursue physical therapy. During my time in school I realized that my skill set and personality were a perfect fit for the physical therapy field. It became evident to me that I am wired to care for others and help them in any way I can, and physical therapy provided the ideal avenue for me to accomplish that.
As a therapist, my goal is to partner alongside patients throughout their rehabilitation journey. I am passionate about educating them on how to improve their symptoms or diagnosis and empowering them to achieve independence for lifelong benefits.
One area I particularly enjoy is working with recreational runners or those aspiring to start running. I find great fulfillment in educating individuals on proper dosage, form and injury prevention techniques for running activities.
Outside of work, I cherish spending time with my family and indulging in my passion for running and exploring with Pokémon Go.
