My bio

My name is Albert Robinson, MD, and I am a professor in the UF Department of Anesthesiology, as well as chief of the Division of Vascular Anesthesiology. I joined the department as a cardiovascular anesthesiologist in 2006.

I completed my bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering here at the University of Florida, graduating with high honors. I then earned my medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, followed by an internship and anesthesiology residency at the University of Maryland Medical System. I also completed a cardiovascular anesthesiology fellowship at the Texas Heart Institute.

In addition to my board certification in anesthesiology, I am certified in advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography. I am also a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography and a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

I’m actively involved in patient care, teaching, and research. I train anesthesiology residents and fellows, along with medical students, in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular anesthesiology. I also teach the fundamentals of anesthesiology and the concepts of hemodynamic monitoring in the Anesthesiology Life Support Skills and Perioperative Medicine Course. I’ve been honored to receive several teaching awards over the years, including the T.W. Andersen Teacher of the Year Award in 2007 and the UF College of Medicine Exemplary Teachers Award in 2010, 2011, and 2020.

My research interests focus on evaluating evidence-based simulation models in medical education and using high fidelity human and part-task patient simulators to improve patient safety. My clinical interests include heart valve surgery, heart and lung transplantation, and complex aorta aneurysm surgery.
