Amit Badiye, MD, FACC, FSCAI
Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Specialist, Interventional Cardiologist
About me
My name is Amit Badiye, and I am an associate professor and medical director for the UF Health Cardiogenic Shock Program. I am board-certified in interventional cardiology and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology.
My grandmother’s stroke and my mother’s heart disease inspired me to pursue a career in medicine and later specialize in cardiology. I trained at the top health institutes in India and came to the U.S. to complete an internal medicine residency program at Orlando Health, where I served as chief resident and also received various awards, including the patient safety and quality initiative award and the in-service examination award for several consecutive years.
Following residency, I completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Miami and pursued training in advanced heart failure and heart transplantation, and interventional cardiology. Areas of special clinical expertise include acute mechanical circulatory support, ventricular assist devices, and cardiogenic shock. I am one of the few physicians in the US with this unique blend of expertise and board certification in both interventional and advanced heart failure transplant cardiology.
My patients are my greatest teachers, and caring for people who are facing debilitating sickness is humbling. My clinical interests include complex coronary interventions, temporary and durable mechanical support devices, calcified coronary artery disease, low contrast coronary interventions, heart failure therapeutics, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and pericardial disease, including pericarditis.
In addition to my clinical work, I am deeply involved in research. My research focus is on the development and optimization of mechanical circulatory support devices, innovative approaches to managing calcified coronary artery disease, and the integration of low contrast techniques in coronary interventions to reduce the risk of kidney injury. I have published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented my findings at national and international conferences. My goal is to contribute to the advancement of cardiology and provide evidence-based solutions to complex cardiovascular problems.
During my time away from work, I practice meditation, yoga, play racquetball/pickleball, and swim. I love spending time with my family and my dog, and I enjoy cooking with my wife’s help.
