My bio

I’m Dr. Ashley Zapf, a UF Health Sports Medicine physician as well as clinical assistant professor of physical medicine & rehabilitation and sports medicine. Currently, I serve as a national team physician for the United States Soccer Federation.

Before joining the University of Florida, I was the associate team physician for the Texas Longhorns at the University of Texas at Austin, providing full-time clinical and onsite sports coverage for all Division I athletics. Prior to my time with the Longhorns, I worked as a sports medicine attending physician at Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Florida.

As a board-certified physician in physical medicine and rehabilitation, I have extensive experience in treating and rehabbing musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, including spinal cord injuries, fractures and multi-trauma, acute musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and concussions.

Additionally, I am fellowship-trained and board-certified in sports medicine. I completed my sports medicine fellowship at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where my training included onsite and training-room coverage for all Division I athletics.

In my clinical work, I evaluate and treat musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries, developing individualized treatment plans using ultrasound-guided injections, bracing, casting, restorative physical therapy, therapeutic modalities, and biomechanical analysis.

I am an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. I have contributed to numerous publications, including a book chapter on ice sled hockey for Adaptive Sports Medicine and online articles in Current Sports Medicine Reports and PM&R Knowledge NOW.
