My bio
Hello, I’m Dr. Audrey Currens and I specialize in Burn Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. I was drawn to these fields because they give me the opportunity to treat a unique patient population and have the chance to make a long-term difference in my patients’ lives.
Before joining the University of Florida, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Clemson University, where I graduated summa cum laude and my Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. I then remained at UT Southwestern for my General Surgery Residency and for a Fellowship in Burn and Surgical Critical Care. Throughout my time at UT Southwestern, I had the fortunate opportunity to receive specialized training in quality improvement and to pursue outcomes-based research in general surgery which I was able to share at national conferences and in medical journals. I specialize in the acute and long-term care of burn patients, general surgery, and care of patients in the intensive care setting.
When I’m not working, I enjoy relaxing with my family, exploring the outdoors, and playing with my cats and dogs.
