My bio

Hello, my name is Caitlin L. Smith, and I’m an audiologist at UF Health’s Department of Audiology. My goal is to help as many children and their families as possible by supporting their hearing journey.

I began working with children in high school and later worked with kids of various abilities and medical complexities. After this experience, I knew that whatever I decided to do in the future, it would involve pediatrics. In college, I volunteered in various pediatric research labs, had the opportunity to participate in mission work in Honduras, observed physicians, and worked with occupational, physical, and speech therapists. This experience helped me gain even more knowledge about what it means to work with children.

Eventually, I took an undergraduate neuroscience course focused on speech and hearing, and my interest in the auditory system was piqued. I knew I had to shadow an audiologist to learn more, and I’m so glad I did! I fell in love with the field and felt empowered that, as an audiologist—particularly in pediatrics, I could advocate for my patients and their families, intervening to support speech, language, and auditory development.

Outside of work, my son and I share a love of water activities, and you can usually find us near a body of water during the summertime. Otherwise, I enjoy traveling, training Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and spending time with my family.
