About me
Moving from Colombia to the United States at a young age, I learned early on how vital access to medical care is. Yet, it wasn’t until years later that I discovered my true calling in bariatric surgery. I am who I am today because of the incredible surgeons who have mentored me and the impact of their teachings.
I am a bariatric surgeon at the University of Florida Health and a clinical assistant professor in the UF Department of Surgery. My medical journey began at the University of Central Florida, where I earned both my bachelor’s degree and medical degree. I continued my training in Orlando, completing my general surgery residency at AdventHealth. After that, I moved to California to complete my bariatric and minimally invasive surgery fellowship at the University of California.
I am proud of my roots and committed to serving Spanish-speaking patients, along with those who travel from all regions. I believe patients deserve to be heard and fully understood during their medical journey, and I strive to provide that clarity and support.
My commitment to patient care is reflected in my active participation in prestigious medical organizations. Most notably, this includes the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, as well as the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Outside of work, I enjoy watching soccer, traveling, spending time with family and dancing to Latin music.
