My bio

My name is Christina Bennett Wiley, CNM, APRN, and I am a certified nurse midwife at UF Health. I received my bachelor's degree in anthropology from the University of Florida, followed by my bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of South Florida. Additionally, I hold a master’s degree in nursing from Frontier University.

My journey to becoming a midwife was shaped by personal experiences in women’s health. During my pregnancy with my daughter and in my mother’s pregnancy with me, the midwives provided vital support. I was drawn to this timeless profession as midwives have historically served the most vulnerable populations in their communities.

A common misconception is that midwives only support natural births. While we are experts in normal physiologic birth, our main goal is to honor each woman’s choice in how she wishes to give birth. We work in diverse settings and provide comprehensive care beyond childbirth, including routine gynecologic well-women exams, contraception counseling, the administration of implantable contraception and more.

The most rewarding aspect of being a midwife is supporting women throughout their reproductive journeys, forming lifelong relationships during transformative moments. It’s a privilege to witness women's innate physical power, support them to find their voices, and empower them to make informed choices for themselves.

I also have a love for education, evident in my previous roles as a clinical instructor and instructor of medical education. My nursing background also includes experience in bone marrow transplant care, where I provided support to high acuity, pancytopenic, immunosuppressed adult patients.
