About me
My name is Danielle Elswick, CNM, APRN, and I am a certified nurse midwife at UF Health. I received my bachelor's degree in applied physiology and kinesiology from the University of Florida. I then went on to receive my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Florida. I then furthered my education with my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Florida.
My interest in midwifery began at age 10 when I witnessed the birth of my youngest sister, a transformative experience that sparked my desire to care for women. Later, during my own pregnancy with my oldest son, I received exceptional care from a group of midwives who inspired me to pursue a career in this field.
One common misconception about midwifery is that many people simply don’t know what a midwife does. In Florida, certified nurse midwives are trained and licensed as advanced practice registered nurses, providing care not only during pregnancy and birth but also offering basic gynecologic services.
The most rewarding part of my work is witnessing the incredible strength of women. I feel honored to walk alongside my patients, and I am grateful for my amazing colleagues at the UF Health midwifery service who consistently go above and beyond to provide exceptional care. Their dedication inspires me to bring my best to the women I serve, making my career as a Nurse-Midwife more fulfilling than I ever imagined!
