Emily A Gaines, AuD, CCC-A

Hello, I am Emily Gaines, a clinical audiologist at the University of Florida. I was inspired to pursue this field because I was born with a cleft lip and palate and received care at the University of Florida Craniofacial Clinic throughout my childhood and adolescence. I was fortunate to be supported by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, including audiologists, whose care made a lasting impact on me.

I am a double Gator; I got my bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders and my doctor of audiology from the University of Florida. I have been privileged to contribute to the clinical education and training of future audiologists, both through supervising students in clinical settings and teaching graduate-level courses.

My personal experience as a patient inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare and ultimately led me to audiology, where I can combine my passion for science with helping others improve their quality of life.

Helping individuals of all ages improve their hearing and engage more fully with the world around them is both challenging and deeply rewarding.

In addition, I enjoy developing innovative teaching materials and patient resources that make hearing healthcare more approachable and effective. My goal as a provider is to support families in making informed decisions about their hearing healthcare. I strive to address the auditory and psychosocial aspects of hearing and health.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, reading, attending concerts and spending time outdoors with my husband and two daughters.
