My bio
Hello, I'm Emily Thompson, a physical therapist at UF Health, specializing in neurological rehabilitation. I earned my doctorate of physical therapy from Arcadia University, with a focus on neurological specialty areas.
I am passionate about helping patients with a range of conditions, including amputations, brain injuries, gait and balance dysfunction, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, spinal cord injuries and strokes. Throughout my career, I have appreciated the comprehensive and collaborative approach to neurological rehab, striving to optimize function and participation for my patients both at home and in their daily lives.
As an APTA Certified Clinical Instructor, I take great pleasure in working with physical therapy students, guiding them as they develop their skills and passion for the field.
Prior to joining UF Health, I worked in Center City Philadelphia with Good Shepherd Penn Partners, where I gained invaluable experience in outpatient neurological rehabilitation. I had the privilege of working in multidisciplinary clinics, including the Wheelchair Seating and Mobility Clinic and the Spina Bifida Clinic for pediatric patients transitioning from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to Penn Medicine. Joining the UF Shands team in the summer of 2022 has been an exciting new chapter in my career journey.
Outside of work, I find solace in nature, enjoying activities such as hiking and backpacking. Spending quality time with my family is also incredibly important to me.
