My bio
My name is Fisher Barrett, and I work at the UF Health Fitness and Wellness Center specializing in exercise and age. My academic journey includes a bachelor of science in kinesiology from the University of Central Florida. I have extensive experience in physical activity, exercise stress tests and understanding aging changes in the bones, muscles and joints. My expertise also covers ACL injuries and rotator cuff problems, where I aim to help clients regain their strength and mobility.
My personal fitness journey over the past 5 years inspired me to pursue a career in exercise physiology. In doing so, I discovered my passion for working one-on-one with clients. I am deeply committed to my clients' health, genuinely caring for their well-being, and striving to provide the best possible care.
My mission is to educate and inform as many people as possible about the positive benefits of exercise, particularly the geriatric population. I truly believe exercise offers phenomenal physical and mental benefits. Exercise physiology is my foremost passion, both personally and professionally. There is nothing more fulfilling than helping a patient realize their physical potential. I often reference Socrates' quote: "It is a shame for a person to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which their body is capable."
Outside of work, chess helps expand my mental capabilities, complementing the physical challenges of rugby, running, and weightlifting.
