My bio
James Wesley, MD, earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida and went on to complete his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine. He returned to Gainesville for his Family Medicine residency at UCF/HCA, where he also earned the Excellence in Teaching Award and the Academic Achievement Award in 2025. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. Before medicine, Dr. Wesley was a high school biology teacher and swim/water polo coach, a background that reflects his lifelong commitment to education, health and mentoring others. He’s also a former collegiate swimmer and served as a team physician for swimming during the 2021 World University Games in Chengdu, China. Dr. Wesley is passionate about supporting students through a whole-person approach, blending lifestyle medicine with evidence-based care to help patients thrive both physically and mentally. His approachable, team-based style of care empowers students to take an active role in their health.
