My bio

My name is Josh Weinberg, and I am a physician at UF Health Family Medicine – Jonesville. I was drawn to Family Medicine due to my interests in holistic and integrative health, and I enjoy that primary care focuses on disease prevention as well as on treatment. My philosophy as a provider is to assist patients in making healthy lifestyle choices, and I take a holistic approach to patient care that considers the whole person, including their values and life experiences, during treatment and prevention.

As a family medicine doctor, I diagnose and treat many conditions, including high blood pressure, diabetes, anxiety and depression, heart failure, arthritis and other orthopedic conditions, COPD, hypothyroidism, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease, just to name a few. Additionally, I perform many dermatologic procedures, including skin biopsies, cryotherapy, excisions (such as cyst removal), incision and drainage of soft tissue abscesses, joint injections, IUD placement and removal, and Nexplanon placement. In addition to seeing adults, I see kids as well! I am especially interested in the treatment of anxiety and depression, as well as sleep difficulties, such as insomnia, and in the role that mindfulness and meditation can play in improving these health conditions.

I’m a Gator, through-and-through, having earned my bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Florida. I graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s in biology from UF in 2015, followed by earning my master’s in cell and molecular biology from San Francisco State University in 2017. I earned my medical degree in 2021 from the UF College of Medicine, and completed my family medicine residency here at UF in 2024.

A fun fact is that I was named the NCAA Wrestling Division II Academic All-American in 2017, and I continue to teach wrestling to students of all ages and train in Brazilian Jiu Jit Su. I enjoy spending time with my wife, my 2-year-old daughter, and my dog, who is an Australian Shepherd/lab mix. My family and I enjoy spending time outside, gardening, and riding bikes.
