About me

I'm Joyce Severance, an occupational therapist at UF Health. My journey in this field began with an associates of arts degree from Santa Fe College, followed by a bachelor's of health science in occupational therapy from the University of Florida.

As an occupational therapist, I specialize in working with adults and children with neurologic disorders, neuromuscular disorders, fine motor challenges, sensory modulation issues, biomechanical difficulties, developmental delays, and some oncology. My passion for helping people reach their full potential led me to transition from wanting to be a teacher to pursuing occupational therapy, where I discovered I could make a profound impact on their lives.

In my practice, I strive to create a joyful and engaging environment for my clients. While I believe in making learning and goal-setting fun and motivating for my patients, I also recognize the importance of being serious when needed to address their needs effectively. Being an Occupational Therapist brings me immense fulfillment, and I'm dedicated to helping adults and children thrive and succeed in all aspects of their lives.

Outside of my professional life, I find joy in creative activities like crafts and building Lego sets. I also enjoy spending quality time with my three children—two boys and a girl—and my spouse of 35 years.
