About me
Hello, I'm Julie Leger Cruz, a massage therapist at UF Health. My educational foundation includes a bachelor’s degree from St Thomas University in Canada. Subsequently, I honed my skills at The International Academy of Massage Therapy in Ontario, Canada.
Throughout my career, I have found immense fulfillment in working with a diverse range of patients, particularly those navigating the challenges of post-cancer recovery. Specializing in scar work, I often assist head and neck patients, breast cancer survivors and individuals recovering from various surgical interventions. Another area I enjoy working with is those facing movement disorders such as Parkinson's, MS and strokes.
As a child, I always had a nurturing instinct, and this career path allows me to extend that care to others. I thrive on challenges, particularly those cases that seem insurmountable. With almost two decades of experience, I've worked in various settings, from owning my own business to contributing my skills at spas, chiropractic clinics, acupuncture clinics and to now currently at UF Health Rehab.
Specializing in post-radiation and surgery care, particularly for breast, head and neck cancers, I bring a unique perspective to my practice. I've undertaken burn and scar release classes, incorporating these techniques into my treatments. As I approach my 20th year in the field, I take pride in defying the median average for a massage therapist, which stands around 5 years.
In addition to my professional pursuits, I've embraced weight lifting over the past two years. I also cherish moments outdoors, especially hiking with my family. Also, being originally from Canada, I am fluent in French.
