About me
My name is Kiersten Farrell, and I am a doctor of physical therapy at UF Health. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology from Ramapo College of New Jersey and my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Rutgers University. My specialties include pre- and post-operative rehab, sports performance rehab, aquatic therapy, cardiopulmonary physical therapy, oncology-specialized physical therapy and lymphedema management.
At the age of two, I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, which left me with lower extremity paralysis and the challenge of relearning motor skills. While this was a frightening and difficult time for my family and me, it also introduced me to the field of physical therapy. Because physical therapy was such a major part of my life from an early age, I always felt a strong pull to enter the profession that had such a lasting impact on me. I’ve been inspired by physical therapists’ ability to treat a wide variety of conditions while forming genuine connections with their patients, and I am excited to do the same for my future patients.
I strive to guide my patients along their journey to real progress and meaningful results, providing a space where they can voice their goals and feel heard. Physical therapy is not a "one size fits all" approach, and I am committed to adjusting and modifying treatment plans to best fit each patient's needs.
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time in the water or on the pool deck, coaching and instructing private swimming lessons—a passion that began when I became a competitive swimmer at age seven. More recently, I’ve taken up running as a great way to relieve stress and enjoy the outdoors. As a new resident of Gainesville, I’ve been busy exploring the area, attending Gator football games, trying new restaurants, and, of course, shopping at my new favorite store—Publix! I’m also a huge country music fan and make it a goal to attend at least three concerts a year, with favorite artists including Morgan Wallen, Kenny Chesney, HARDY, Zach Bryan and Kelsea Ballerini.
