My bio

My interest in medicine began in childhood. Growing up in Africa, I witnessed physicians from all over the globe visiting to treat regional illnesses, like malaria, and even those who helped my own parents during my birth. It was their dedication to healing that inspired me to pursue medicine as a career.

Upon completing my Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in India, I received my Master of Science in molecular genetics and microbiology from the University of Florida. I then continued my studies and earned my Diploma in Climate Medicine (DCM) from the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

I currently serve as a clinical associate professor of gastrointestinal oncology in the UF College of Medicine. I chose this specialty to focus on a field where cancers are increasingly affecting younger patients, to leverage advances in precision and organ-directed therapies and to work within multidisciplinary teams to bring emerging treatments directly to those who need them.

My goal is to ensure that all my patients have access to the highest quality care available, including emerging therapies and innovative treatment approaches. Patients should know that I guide them and their families through complex decisions with compassion and clarity. While doing so, I offer the most up-to-date treatment options and clinical opportunities when appropriate. Above all, I strive to ensure that care aligns with each patient’s values and priorities, so that they feel supported, informed and empowered throughout their journey.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and our dogs. I also enjoy reading, gardening, cooking, exercising, yoga and volunteering with several nonprofit organizations. I am happiest outdoors, engaging in all kinds of activities such as traveling, hiking, fly-fishing and exploring new places, often from our Airstream trailer.
