My bio
Hola, I'm Lourdes Mengelkoch, a physical therapist at UF Health. Armed with a bachelor's degree in health science in physical therapy from the University of Florida, my professional journey has been shaped by a passion for empowering individuals, especially children, to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
My expertise lies in working with pediatric patients, and I have a particular interest in neurology, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, infants with developmental disabilities and the use of aquatic therapy. I find immense satisfaction in helping these young individuals overcome challenges and achieve their developmental milestones. My overarching goal is to instill a sense of independence in individuals, enabling them to care for themselves and their loved ones.
Beyond my clinical work, I am deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of physical therapists. I actively engage with physical therapy students at UF, focusing on honing their clinical handling and decision-making skills, particularly in the realm of pediatric care.
Outside of the world of therapy, I find joy in running, cycling and yoga! I am also a native Spanish speaker, and I am exploring the possibility of certification as an interpreter!
