My bio
Maria Gay, MD, is a UF Health physician who is board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Nuestra Madre de la Merced, Guayaquil, Ecuador, with a major in physics. She went on to earn a master’s degree in top management and health services at Cerem International Business School in Madrid and received her medical degree at Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador. After completing her residency in internal medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut, Dr. Gay then pursued a two-year fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the University of Connecticut in Farmington.
Dr. Gay’s clinical interests include the management of diabetes and thyroid disease, as well as adrenal and pituitary pathology. She is committed to working with her patients to provide them the tools and education necessary to manage their diabetes and minimize complications from this chronic disease. Along with practicing medicine, Dr. Gay enjoys playing basketball and other outdoor sports, watching movies, traveling and spending time with friends.
