My bio

Hi, my name is Moustafa Younis, MD, and I am currently a lung transplant attending in the University of Florida Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine. Some of my clinical interest include lung transplant, advanced lung disease and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

I earned my medical degree at the University of Sharjah College of Medicine in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. I then received my Master of Science in clinical research at University of Kansas. Shortly after, I completed my first fellowship in pulmonary and critical care followed by my second fellowship in advanced lung disease and transplant, both at the University of Florida. I hope to conduct more research to address challenges associated with lung transplantation.

What initially prompted me to pursue a degree in medicine was my desire to have a positive impact on people’s lives and that became my stimulus. My perspective on being a physician changed not only because of patient care but also, as a result of personal experiences within my own family. Experiencing these ordeals was devastating. I chose to dedicate my career to help prevent others from going through what my family and I had suffered. I would, to the best of my abilities, be an honest and empathetic doctor who provides the best detail-oriented care for patients by putting myself or family members in their positions.

In my free time I enjoy hiking and exploring different national parks across the nation.
