About me
I believe every patient deserves compassionate, evidence-based care that respects their unique experiences and empowers them to make informed decisions about their health. As a family medicine physician with advanced training in women's health and surgical obstetrics, I am passionate about caring for patients through every stage of life, with a special focus on prenatal care, obstetrics, gynecology, and preventive women's health.
I earned dual bachelor’s degrees in biomedical sciences and public health from the University of South Florida before completing my Doctor of Medicine degree at Meharry Medical College. I then completed my Family Medicine residency with the Obstetrics Track at the University of Michigan Health System, where I developed advanced skills in obstetrical care and served as an educator, mentor, and advocate for resident wellness. I am currently completing a Women's Health Faculty Development Year and Surgical Obstetrics Fellowship at AdventHealth, further expanding my expertise in comprehensive women's healthcare and office-based procedures.
My clinical interests include prenatal and obstetrical care, women's health, adolescent medicine, pediatrics, mental health, and caring for underserved communities. I am especially committed to improving outcomes for Black and Brown birthing individuals and ensuring equitable, high-quality care for every patient I serve.
In addition to caring for patients, I enjoy teaching and mentoring the next generation of physicians. Throughout my training, I have presented topics including healthcare disparities, physician wellness, racial bias in medicine, women's health, and preventive care. My research has focused on health equity, maternal health, healthcare policy, and physician mental health, including investigating post-traumatic stress disorder among family medicine physicians.
My goal is to build meaningful relationships with my patients by listening carefully, creating a welcoming environment, and partnering with them to achieve their healthiest lives.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and I'm a proud big sister and auntie. I love traveling and experiencing new places, cultures, and cuisines, and I enjoy unwinding with a good book. I also have a passion for writing and creating content about medicine, wellness, personal growth, and life beyond medicine. I'm currently working to improve my Spanish and am deeply committed to mentorship, especially supporting students and trainees from backgrounds historically underrepresented in medicine.
