About me
My name is Shannon Blewett, PT, and I am a physical therapist at UF Health Rehab – Medical Plaza.
I graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1999 with a Bachelor of Health Science in Physical Therapy. I have been a certified lymphedema therapist since 2004 by the Academy of Lymphatic Studies and certified in lymphology by the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA) since 2006.
My clinical interest include oncology rehab, including patients affected by cancer surgery, reconstructive surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, proton therapy and hormone therapy. As a physical therapist, I strive to use physical therapy to help mitigate and provide intervention concerning side effects during and after cancer treatments. This way, patients can return to prior function and quality of life. I am proud to work with an amazing group of colleagues that share my passion for oncology rehab at UF Health.
In addition to my PT role, I have been involved with initiating the Lymphedema Surveillance program for the breast cancer population since 2014. The program monitors patients for five years, beginning with pre-operative evaluation and education and had the opportunity to speak at the 2016 International National Lymphedema Network Conference concerning this program.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, as well as traveling and exploring new places with my husband and two children. Some of our favorite activities include those outdoors, including camping, fishing, kayaking and hiking.
