About me

My name is Shari Gorman, and I am a certified hand therapist at UF Health. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services from the University of Florida in 1993, and my Master of Occupational Science from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1996. In 2002, I obtained my certification in hand therapy. My passion for occupational therapy stems from a love for helping people regain function and return to the activities they love.

With many years of experience in hand therapy, I specialize in treating conditions of the hand, shoulder and upper extremity, as well as splinting and orthotics. I also have a special interest in wound care, advancements in splinting materials, and the latest protocols and surgical techniques in hand therapy.

My goal is to continue offering education, hope and effective treatment strategies to help individuals accomplish their goals and get back to the things that bring them happiness. I also believe that therapy is a collaborative process—I learn just as much from my patients as they do from me.

Outside of work, I enjoy photography, art, ceramics and traveling. Originally from Canada, my family and I return to Northern Ontario every year to enjoy loved ones and outdoor lake activities. Though my children are now adults, they still live in Gainesville, allowing us to stay close.
