Stacy O'Dowd, MD, MBA, FAAFP

Hello, my name is Dr. Stacy O’Dowd, and I am the medical director and a family medicine provider at UF Health Family Medicine – Ocala Heath Brook. As a board-certified family medicine physician I support, educate, and collaborate with my patients on their journeys toward better health. I am committed to being a trusted partner in my patients' care and helping them in any way I can. I am particularly interested in women’s and preventive medicine for patients of all ages.

After witnessing my grandmother’s experience with treatment for metastatic breast cancer, I decided to pursue a career as a physician. During medical school I discovered that I enjoyed every clinical rotation and concluded that the specialty of family medicine was the right choice for me. As a specialty, family medicine enables healthcare providers to do a little bit of everything as part of their practice. Now, after many years in clinical practice, I thoroughly enjoy helping to educate, mentor, and train the next generation of medical students and residents.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan, and my medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. My residency in family medicine was completed at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. To further enhance my leadership and administrative skills, I obtained an MBA with a concentration in healthcare administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. I am a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a fellow of the American Board of Family Medicine. I am currently pursuing additional certification from the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine so that I can further incorporate more comprehensive preventive care into my practice.

When I’m not caring for patients, I enjoy spending time with my family and pursuing creative hobbies. My husband and I have been happily married for 37 years and we share a passion for golfing and biking. We are the proud parents of two sons who are pursuing careers in medicine — one is a radiology resident in Michigan and the other is a third-year medical student in Chicago. In my free time, I also enjoy making polymer clay jewelry and diamond art painting.
