About me

My passion for becoming a heart surgeon began at an early age and has taken me to several places. Now, I’m a proud faculty member of the University of Florida College of Medicine’s Division of Cardiovascular Surgery, seeing patients at UF Health Heart and Vascular Surgery at Halifax Health.

My journey to serving as the fellowship-trained, board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon I am today began with acceptance into a tier 1 medical school and continued with my higher medical education at Kurnool Medical College in India. Afterward, I completed my cardiothoracic and general surgery residencies at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, one of the premier national institutes in India.

To advance my surgical training, I moved to England and worked at Guy’s Hospital and the National Heart and Chest Hospitals in London. There, I developed a clinical interest in complex cardiac and thoracic surgery, including coronary and valvular procedures. During this period, I received my FRCS from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in Scotland.

After receiving my FRCS, I traveled to Ireland to work in a series of top hospitals in Dublin, including Mater Hospital, St James’s Hospital and Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin. During this period, I received my FRCS in cardiothoracic surgery, the highest qualification granted by the four Royal Surgical Colleges of the United Kingdom and Ireland.

I came to the United States as an international fellow at St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, working with Dr. Albert Starr, a pioneer of valve technology. My clinical experience during this time expanded to include advanced heart failure management, ventricular assist devices and aortic valve surgery.

To obtain my board certification, I completed a surgical residency at Oregon Health & Science University and completed a cardiothoracic fellowship at West Virginia University. I continued my training and practice in several states across the U.S. before joining the UF Health team. Today, I maintain licenses to practice medicine in Oregon, Minnesota, West Virginia and Texas.

Over time, my clinical interests have broadened to include transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), minimally invasive aortic valve surgery, coronary artery bypass grafting, treatment of atrial fibrillation and flutter, robotic thoracic surgery and thoracic pathology. I am committed to providing every patient with exceptional, compassionate care. Outside of patient care, I enjoy spending time with my family.
