Walter Johnson, MD
Anesthesiologist, Pain Medicine Specialist
About me
I earned my medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2020. I was inspired to pursue pain medicine during my training, where I witnessed firsthand the profound impact chronic pain can have on a person’s daily life and overall well-being. I completed an anesthesiology residency in 2024 at the University of Kentucky, followed by a pain medicine fellowship at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. Seeing how minimally invasive treatments could significantly restore function and improve quality of life motivated me to specialize in this field and help patients regain control of their lives.
As medical director of pain medicine services at Ocala Neighborhood Hospital, my goal is to expand access to advanced pain management options for patients in the area. I aim to improve the availability of interventional procedures to better address the needs of those living with pain, helping to improve their function, comfort and overall quality of life.
I’m deeply committed to collaborative care, and I will work closely with each patient to develop personalized treatment plans that align with their goals and comfort level. My focus is always on improving pain, restoring function and helping patients return to the activities that matter most to them.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife. I also enjoy weightlifting, golfing, traveling, trying new restaurants and watching collegiate and professional sports
