Xianrui Yang, DMD, PhD

Dr. Xianrui “Sherry” Yang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and a Courtesy Faculty member in the Department of Oral Biology at the University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD). Dr. Yang has been conducting research in both basic science and clinical orthodontics. She has published over 50 articles and served as an editor and reviewer for multiple scientific journals. Her interests include the mechanobiology of orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) and clinical & translational research.

Dr. Yang obtained her DMD, PhD, and Orthodontics training from the West China School of Stomatology. Since the first year of her PhD, she has been at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, working on extracellular biology and intracellular signaling mechanisms in the Department of Developmental Biology. She continued her Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Bone Biology at Harvard University, then pursued her Orthodontics Residency and a Master of Science at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Dr. Yang is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

At UFCD, Dr. Yang leads her OTM Mechanobiology Laboratory, serves as the Director of the Predoctoral Orthodontics Program, and treats patients in the Faculty Practice Clinic.
