Edward C Kohaut, M.D. - Background
Dr. Edward C. Kohaut is board-certified in pediatric nephrology. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in biology from Villanova University, and he received his medical degree from the New Jersey College of Medicine. Dr. Kohaut completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by a fellowship within the renal-metabolic pediatrics division at the Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Kohaut served as a staff pediatrician at Philadelphia Naval Hospital. Before coming to Pensacola, he was on the medical staff at Children’s Hospital of Alabama and at Baptist Health in Montgomery, Alabama. He has held a variety of teaching appointments throughout his career, including the Florida State University College of Medicine, the University of Florida College of Medicine and the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.
Dr. Kohaut has previously served as the chairman of the nephrology executive committee for the American Academy of Pediatrics, or AAP. He currently serves on the Scientific Advisory Committee of the North American Pediatric Renal Transplant Cooperative Study and is an AAP representative to the United Network for Organ Sharing.
Dr. Kohaut has been published in multiple medical journals and is especially interested in renal insufficiencies in children. He has served on the editorial board of the International Journal of Pediatric Nephrology, the American Journal of Kidney Diseases, Advances in Peritoneal Dialysis and Pediatric Nephrology.
