Diabetes Health Fair - Diabetes Alert Day

It is estimated that nearly 26 million people in the United States have diabetes. Approximately seven million people dont even know they have it.

Learn the facts and find out if you are at risk for type 2 diabetes at Shands at the University of Floridas 25th-annual Diabetes Alert Day on March 26.

Diabetes Alert Day is a national, one-day event asking the American public to take the Diabetes Risk Test to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Approximately 95% of diabetes patients have type 2 diabetes, but it doesnt happen overnight its a gradual process, so you can stop it before it develops. Start by finding out if you are at risk.

Diabetes experts from Shands and the University of Florida will answer questions, provide free glucose screenings and educate people about diabetes prevention. They also will be offering hemoglobin A1c tests to those with abnormally high blood sugar readings, a cholesterol panel and blood pressure tests.
