Description
Pediatric patients at the Shands Hospital for Children at the University of Florida this week will picked the top toy robot during the UF College of Engineerings freshman summer design competition. In a unique collaboration, earlier in the summer the youngsters shared their visions of the ideal robot with the budding engineers. The final day of the project, August 3, the kids will played with the Lego robots their older colleagues created and discovered how well their ideas were turned into reality.
Participants in the competition included UF College of Engineerinig freshman, UF&Shands leaders, representatives from the National Instruments Corp and pediatric patients at Shands Hospital for Children at UF.
The winning team received certificates that were hand-made by the young patients. The top team also received UF prizes and acknowledgement by the makers of the software used to build the robots. The winning team designed Gator Bot, a remote-controlled Lego gator that the pediatric judges loved driving through the atrium.
