Description

Terry R. Knapp, MD, a 1970 UF College of Medicine graduate, will present a Notable Alumnus Lecture titled, “Transforming Healthcare Worldwide: Integrated Digital Care and P4 Medicine.”
Knapp is the founder, chairman and chief medical officer of CareSpan Holdings Inc. & Subsidiaries, an integrated digital health care delivery company. He invented the method of tagging medical devices with small passive RFID transponders to provide long-term non-invasive device identification. He then pioneered the first global transponder-based medical implant registry, tracking, post-market surveillance and adverse event reporting informatics system. His most recent patent filings and issued patents have been in the fields of electronic biosensor components and information systems for rules-driven database access, automated health care privacy and online informed consent acquisition and management.
