Biography

Hemant Murthy, MD is an assistant professor of medicine in the division of hematology and oncology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Murthy received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. After finishing his internal medicine residency at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center, he went on to complete a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. Following this he completed his hematology and oncology fellowship at East Carolina University and continued his training at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, where he was a blood and marrow transplantation fellow. Board-certified in internal medicine, hospice and palliative medicine, medical oncology and hematology, Dr. Murthy’s primary clinical interests are in myelodysplastic syndrome, lymphoid neoplasms, acute and chronic leukemia’s, plasma cell dyscrasias, autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation and palliative medicine.
