Biography

James Wever Pinzon, MD, is an assistant professor in the University of Florida Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.

Dr. Pinzon graduated first in his class at Universidad de Panama School of Medicine before completing his residency at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois. From there, he completed three fellowships at the University of Utah, studying heart failure and transplant and cardiovascular disease. He is fluent in Spanish and board certified by the National Board of Echocardiography, American Board of Internal Medicine.

His areas of expertise include advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, heart transplantation, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. Dr. Pinzon has received the Intermountain Research and Medical Foundation Research Grant and T32 Cardiovascular Research Grant Award and has contributed to six peer reviewed publications and nine abstracts. He is a professional member of the International Society of Herat and Lung Transplantation, the American Society of Echocardiography and the American College of Cardiology. His personal interests include open source software, fitness and nutrition, and technology.
