Jean Cibula, MD, is an assistant professor and division chief for epilepsy in the Department of Neurology at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

Dr. Cibula received her undergraduate and medical degrees from Case Western Reserve University. She completed her neurology residency at UF where she also completed a fellowship in epilepsy and behavioral neurology. Before returning to UF as an assistant professor, Dr. Cibula was an assistant professor of neurology at the University of Kentucky and acting director of the UK Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, then director of the Mt. Carmel Epilepsy Program and a private practice neurologist in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Cibula is board certified in adult neurology (ABPN) and clinical neurophysiology (ABCN). Her clinical and research interests include women's and adolescent issues in epilepsy, surgical evaluation and management of epilepsy, new onset seizures and electrocorticography and brain mapping.

Dr. Cibula has received several awards for her work, including America's Top Physicians 2009-10, 2010-11, 2001-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 from Consumer's Research Council of America and two peer-selected Best Doctors in America awards 2011-12 and 2012-13.

Dr. Cibula is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society and a fellow of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. She has served on the board of the Florida Society for Neurology. Dr. Cibula is the author of more than 15 refereed publications and more than 10 chapters related to the topic of epilepsy. She has given numerous presentations and lectures on local, regional and national platforms regarding the advances of epilepsy treatment.
