Biography

Jimmy Brown, MD, DDS, FACS, graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine with his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1988, and completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the Charles R. Drew University Medical Center in 1993. He subsequently served in the USARMY as Chief of Otolaryngology & Audiological Sciences from 1993 -95. Dr. Brown then went on to complete extra training as a Fellow in Advanced Surgical Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Brown held faculty positions at Stanford University and the UCLA School of Medicine and later served as the Program director and Chief to the Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, Charles R. School of Medicine, a subsidiary of UCLA School of Medicine. He held these posts for 15 years. Previously, Dr. Brown received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in 1983, with honors, and completed his General Surgery Internship at Georgetown University, School of Medicine, Medical Center in 1989.

Prior to joining the faculty of the UF College of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology, Dr. Brown was a Professor of Surgery for the Department of Otolaryngology and the Chief of Head & Neck, and Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery at The Augusta University, Medical College of Georgia. He held these posts for 10 years.

As an academic physician, Dr. Brown provides training to resident physicians, fellow physicians, medical students, and staff. He actively participates in teaching conferences and grand-rounds as well as research. Dr. Brown is appointed as Professor of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, and Chief to the division of Comprehensive Otolaryngology here at UF.
