Biography

Kristina Giles, MD, is an assistant professor of surgery in the division of vascular surgery and endovascular therapy in the University of Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Giles' medical degree is from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center which included a clinical fellowship with Harvard Medical School. She also completed a research fellowship with the Harvard-Longwood Research Training in Vascular Surgery Program. She then went on to her vascular surgery fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

Her research concentrates on comparative effectiveness and outcomes in vascular surgery, quality improvement and database utilization, and population studies focused on aneurysm repair. Her clinical interests are aortic surgery, cerebrovascular interventions including carotid stenting, lower-extremity bypass procedures and endovascular interventions, and stem cell and gene therapy treatment strategies for patients with non-revascularizable PVD.

She is board-certified in general surgery and has received numerous awards and accolades during her career, including twice receiving the Deterling Award at the New England Vascular Surgery Society Annual Meeting. She has published multiple peer reviewed articles covering vascular surgery topics, including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, carotid stenting, peripheral revascularization, and stem cell therapy.
