Looking for a restful night's sleep? Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the UF Health Sleep Center – Flagler Hospital specializes in sleep-related disorders that involve difficulties in falling asleep, staying asleep or remaining awake.
More than 70 million Americans experience some form of sleep disorder - and many people remain unaware of their condition and how to regain control of their sleep. Our team of Registered Sleep Technologists will work with you to determine your specific type of sleep disorder in a quiet and comfortable environment. Our rooms are furnished with queen beds and private baths. Flat screen televisions and wireless internet make your stay at The UF Health Sleep Center – Flagler Hospital feel like home. After your condition has been diagnosed, we will create a treatment plan that best meets your needs. Day and evening appointments are available.
Hours of operation
- The center offers testing Monday - Friday for adults only.
- Home Sleep testing available Monday - Thursday
- The normal patient hours for a sleep study are from 8:00 pm until 6:00 am.
- During your stay, a sleep technologist will remain in a nearby room to ensure that accurate data is being collected on our enhanced state-of-the-art equipment.

From US 1 Entrance:
Turn into the hospital complex onto Health Park Blvd. When you reach the stop sign turn right and drive approximately 150 feet to the next 4-way stop and make a left into parking lot D. The UF Health Sleep Center – Flagler Hospital is located in the Jakadofsky Building Suite 106. Enter the glass doors marked "UF Health Flagler Hospital Sleep Disorders Center" and the UF Health Sleep Center – Flagler Hospital is the third door on your left.
From 312 Entrance:
From SR312, go to the third stop sign and take a left into parking lot D. The UF Health Sleep Center – Flagler Hospital is located in the Jakadofsky Building Suite 106. Enter the glass doors marked "UF Health Flagler Hospital Sleep Disorders Center" and the UF Health Sleep Center – Flagler Hospital is the third door on your left.
Types of sleep disorders
- Sleep Apnea occurs when people momentarily stop breathing while asleep. Snoring and excessive daytime sleepiness are common symptoms. If not treated, sleep apnea may result in heart attacks, strokes, impotence or other problems.
- Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep and stay asleep. Disorders such as sleep apnea, muscle twitches, pain or poor sleep hygiene may be causes of insomnia.
- Narcolepsy is characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness. People experiencing this disorder will fall asleep at inappropriate times such as while talking, driving or eating. This is a lifelong disorder, usually occurring in childhood.
- Periodic Leg Movement Syndrome occurs through muscle twitches during the night that may disrupt sleep. Without adequate sleep, the patient feels fatigued during the day.
- Parasomnias are events that occur during sleep, such as sleepwalking, night terrors, nightmares and acting out dreams. These events affect daytime performance and cause excessive sleepiness and irritability.
The day of your study
Please arrive to the UF Health Sleep Center – Flagler Hospital promptly at 8:00 pm.
Instructions on day of study:
- Avoid talking a nap the day of your study
- Do not have any caffeine or alcohol after 12:00 pm. (Coffee, tea, cola, chocolate)
- Hair should be clean and free of styling products, we will be pasting small electrodes to the scalp and face.
- Skin should be clean, dry and oil-free, no creams of or facial makeup
- Remove nail polish or acrylic from the fingernail on index fingers
- A hair dryer is available for you to use upon request
You will need to bring the following items:
- Order or paperwork from your doctor
- A list of your medications and any medications you may need to take during your stay
- Comfortable cotton sleeping attire (no silk, satin, nylon or spandex)
- Reading materials if you wish
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, shaving cream, comb)
- Your room is like a hotel room, you will have your own private room and bath.
