Scholarship applications are now closed

Scholarship applications for the next year will open in November 2026.

UF Health Leesburg Hospital Foundation is honored to award thousands of dollars in scholarships annually to students graduating from Leesburg High School, hospital teen volunteers and hospital employees who wish to pursue or advance their career in the healthcare field. Thanks to the generous legacy of several endowments we are able to continuously support the mission of UF Health Leesburg Hospital Foundation.

Scholarship opportunities

George and Mildred Rast Nursing Scholarship

UF Health Leesburg Hospital Foundation’s George and Mildred Rast Nursing Scholarship is designed to help students achieve their educational goal resulting in an associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree in a Nursing Program. The total amount of this scholarship award is $10,000.

To qualify for a scholarship, students must attend Leesburg High School or Tavares High School with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Scholarship recipients (Student) will receive an annual payment of $2,500 for four (4) years. The Student must maintain a GPA of 3.0 with passing grades, have a positive academic standing, satisfy the school’s academic standards, and continue in course work to achieve a degree in nursing. The unrestricted scholarship will be paid directly to the institution at which the student is enrolled and can be used for tuition, fees, instructional resources, etc. The Student is responsible for managing their scholarship with the Finance and/or Advisor to ensure the funds are used for their needs.

Students who wish to apply for a scholarship must complete and return the application before March 23, 2026, to the UF Health Leesburg Hospital Foundation Office – Attn: Scholarships. Applications may be mailed, delivered in person or emailed to Courtney.Wilson2@UFHealth.org. The Foundation Office address is: 701 N. Palmetto Street, Suite G, Leesburg, 34748 (operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm).

The UF Health Leesburg Hospital Foundation Board of Directors Scholarship Committee is responsible for selecting the students for this scholarship opportunity. Students and their attending High School will receive notification of their selection on or before May 1, 2026.

Upon receiving notification of the scholarship award, you will also receive a form for important school information that must be completed and returned before scholarships can be processed.

Healthcare/Medical Scholarship

UF Health Leesburg Hospital Foundation’s Healthcare / Medical Scholarship is designed to help students achieve their educational goals in a field of study related to healthcare and resulting in an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s degree, or a certification program in a healthcare/medical related field. The total amount of this scholarship award is $5,000.

To qualify for a scholarship, students must attend Leesburg High School or Tavares High School with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Scholarship recipients (Student) will receive an annual payment of $1,250 for four (4) years. The Student must maintain a GPA of 3.0 with passing grades, have a positive academic standing, satisfy the school’s academic standards, and continue in course work to achieve a degree in nursing. The unrestricted scholarship will be paid directly to the institution at which the student is enrolled and can be used for tuition, fees, instructional resources, etc. The Student is responsible for managing their scholarship with the

2025 awards

In May of 2025, six Leesburg High School students, and eighteen hospital team members received more than $85,000 in scholarship awards.
