Our mobile cancer screening connector enhances community care by providing mammograms and screenings for cervical, colon and other cancers. The connector also provides health care services and educational resources.

Breast cancer screening

Mammograms are crucial for detecting breast cancer at an early stage when it is most treatable. The mobile unit will be equipped with advanced 3D mammography technology, similar to that used in UF Health clinics. This technology provides detailed images that help radiologists more accurately distinguish between normal and potentially abnormal breast tissue.

Cervical cancer screening

Cervical cancer is highly preventable with effective HPV vaccines. Cervical cancer screening involves an HPV test, which is often done alongside a Pap smear during a routine exam. The mobile unit will provide HPV testing and, if necessary, Pap smears for cell collection.

Colorectal cancer screening

Early detection through routine screening can lead to more effective treatment for colorectal cancer. The mobile unit will offer fecal immunochemical tests (FIT) to detect blood in the stool. Patients will receive instructions for performing the test at home, and completed tests will be sent back to health care providers for follow-up as needed.

Prostate cancer screening

Prostate cancer screening for men usually begins with a visit to a primary care doctor, which includes a review of health history, prostate-specific antigen testing and a digital rectal exam. The mobile unit’s medical staff will offer personalized advice on prostate cancer screening procedures and timing.

Primary care access

The mobile unit will take a comprehensive approach to address each patient’s health needs. Trained health care professionals will assist patients in accessing necessary care within the community. Collaborative health care plans and personal health goals, including blood pressure management, nutrition, and exercise, will be developed with patients.
