Neuro Intensive Care Unit

UF Health Shands Gainesville Neuro ICUUF Health Shands Hospital Neuro Intensive Care Unit consists of 30-beds dedicated to the treatment of neuroscience patients who require intensive medical and surgical management. These patients receive their care from board-certified neurosurgeons, endovascular neurosurgeons, neuro-intensivists, epileptologists, neuroradiologists, vascular neurologists and neurocritical care nurses.

Under the leadership of Co-Medical Directors William A. Friedman, MD, and Brenda G. Fahy, MD, MCCM, staff members collaborate within a multidisciplinary team that also includes:

  • Case managers
  • Clinical pharmacists
  • Clinical nutritionists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Physical therapists
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Speech therapists
  • Social workers and psychiatrists
