Habgood Appointed to State Board of Nursing
Mary Kay Habgood, an assistant professor at the University of Florida College of Nursing, was recently appointed to the Florida State Board of Nursing.
During her two-year term, Habgood will help oversee the licensing and certification of all nurses in the state, provide oversight on the educational standards for nursing, develop policy relating to nursing practice and recommend disciplinary actions as needed.
Habgood currently is serving a three-year visiting professorship with UF where she teaches undergraduate medical and surgical nursing. As a special assistant to the College of Nursing’s Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Habgood also assists with program evaluation, and development of surveys and clinical evaluation instruments.
Habgood received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from UF. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in Education from the University of South Florida.
