UF College of Veterinary Medicine's Dog Owners & Breeders Symposium will be July 29

Just in time for dog days -- of summer, that is -- dog enthusiasts will soon have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the hottest issues in canine care. The University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine’s Fourth Annual Dog Owners and Breeders Symposium will be held Saturday, July 29 at the Reitz Union in Gainesville.

On the agenda will be health topics, including cancer treatment, skin and eye diseases, the canine genome and what's new in small animal surgery. Animal nutrition and reproduction issues also will be addressed.

The program begins at 8 a.m. and concludes with an "Entrees in Expertise" dinner at 7 p.m. The dinner gives participants the chance to mingle with UF faculty members from a variety of disciplines.

Afternoon breakout sessions will include symposia in advanced reproduction and sports medicine, along with a seminar on practical first aid for your pet and tours of the UF Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
