UF pharmacy professor receives national award
David Brushwood, a professor with the University of Florida’s College of Pharmacy, has received a $10,000 grant from the American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics as part of its Mayday Scholar Program. The program is supported by the Mayday Fund.
The goal of the program is to broaden published research on pain and to develop a core of pain relief policy experts. The Mayday Fund, a non-profit organization based in New York City that supports pain research, seeks to improve treatment nationwide by removing legal, regulatory and financial pain relief barriers.
Brushwood, an attorney and pharmacist, is one of six award recipients nationwide. His research focuses on pain management regulation with an emphasis on how physicians can overcome impediments to the use of narcotic analgesics for pain relief.
