College of Medicine students honored for research achievements
University of Florida second-year medical student Torri-Ja’Net Trice of Detroit was recognized for her outstanding research efforts at the UF College of Medicine Student Research Day on March 7. Trice won the John Harrington Tanous Award for Distinguished Research in Cancer and $1,000 for her studies to determine the effect prevention of blood vessel growth has on cancer progression, particularly in leukemia and lymphoma. Carroll Browd of Miami and Paul Hebig of Minneapolis were also presented research awards. A panel of faculty judges selected the winners from among 12 oral and poster presentation.
