Dentistry names Logan multicultural affairs director
Nelson Logan, Ph.D., has been appointed director of multicultural affairs for the University of Florida College of Dentistry. In this position, Logan will oversee all programs relating to minority recruitment, scholarships and events.
Logan comes to UF from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where he served for 29 years in several academic positions, most recently as the associate dean for faculty and curriculum planning and a professor of preventive and community dentistry. While at Iowa, he developed and implemented a minority scholarship program for the college of dentistry.
Logan’s goals for the position include developing strong college ties in minority communities by working with outreach programs and coordinating with UF offices on the recruitment and retention of underrepresented minorities.
Logan earned his bachelor’s degree in education at Wichita State University and a master’s in mathematics and a doctorate in computer science from the University of Utah.
