Dr. Gale serves as new director of student affairs
Marc Gale, D.M.D., M.Ed., an associate professor of operative dentistry and longtime University of Florida College of Dentistry faculty member, has been appointed as the college’s director of student affairs.
As student affairs director, Gale serves as a bridge among the students, faculty and staff. He is involved in all facets of student activities, such as working with student organizations, planning student awards and helping to organize freshman orientation.
Gale seeks to emphasize several aspects of student affairs as director. He considers community activities particularly important because they will be part of what the students will do as dental professionals. Gale encourages students to become involved with extramural activities such as volunteering and giving time back to the community through their participation in health fairs and other events.
Another significant part of Gale’s position is to provide guidance on ethical and professional behavior.
“I will counsel students on student conduct and proper ethics,” Gale said. “It is vital that students take responsibility for their actions and realize that they are in a professional environment. Their schooling is a training ground for the future.”
As director of the student clinical management system, known as the TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) program, Gale is no stranger to guiding students on their academic and clinical studies. He says the college’s reputation as a student-oriented dental school was a crucial factor in bringing him to the college in 1972.
