Grants boost UF graduate students’
Five University of Florida College of Medicine neuroscience graduate students have won research grants to support studies of the human brain and its functions.
The Bryan W. Robinson Endowment selected Jessica R. Conde; Eugene M. Martin; Emily W. Piercefield, M.D.; Kyle J. Roux; and David C. Wang to receive grants for their research. The grants are awarded to students at both UF and Florida State University.
Roux was one of three students awarded a $2,500 grant, the organization’s top award. Roux studies the function of a protein thought to be involved in the maintenance of the sheath surrounding peripheral nerve fibers.
Conde, Martin, Piercefield and Wang were awarded $250 grants.
The Bryan W. Robinson Endowment is administered by the Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Foundation and was created to further education and training in the neurosciences.
